Hi, it’s me again, Shai. Even as a vtuber, I am not as techy as most people involved in streaming
are. But technology and the internet sure change the way we learn and do things we do on a daily basis. You can just watch a video on YouTube to learn how to cook, without any prior knowledge of how to cook, and repair things. Attend webinars to learn new skills and communicate with family and friends from all over the world.
Technology is changing how we learn in the era of COVID-19. Learning online is never easy since we are being taught hands-on and teachers are physically present to guide us. The internet has revolutionized the way we work, play, communicate, and keep ourselves entertained and educated. During the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic people are advised to stay indoors to avoid mass spread of the virus. And for student to continue their studies, DEPED decided for an online classes as a solution to keep students learning. As a student myself, I have been learning virtually through online classes, webinars, and training.
Receiving the free training at Leonexus for a virtual assistant position had me dumbfounded by the things that I know in the corporate world. Before the training even started I thought to myself that I have to forget what I know to learn what I need to know, forget everything to learn everything. The training went very well for the first week. Then lead generation happened, and boy oh boy, I tell you that task was challenging, especially not knowing what site to visit and how I'd be able to get emails for my client’s prospects. There are free websites you can use to get their emails, like Apollo, but it seems that the site has only limited accounts. But once you are familiar with how it works, it gets easier, and with practice, I might reach the quota of more than a hundred prospective clients. And I find the task of graphic design the easiest because I have been doing graphic design for a few years now. Although there are still things that I didn’t know that our coaches Mitzi and Adelle taught us.
I have mixed emotions about learning online. I enjoy the solitude of learning in my own room, but then I still want to learn with my friends physically present. And let’s face it, not all the time the person you want to talk to is online. What if you needed some help with an item you found hard to understand? Where would you go? Google? Sure, they know a lot of things, but we know that not everything online is true. Most of them are made up. I’m losing the point here, but you get the point. Learning online may depend on the person. I find it hard but enjoyable, while others may find it better than risking their health for a few hours at school. This is my view as a student, but as an adult it is a different story.
As an adult, learning online is way better, especially if the training and webinars are out of town or country. Not everyone has the luxury of travelling from place to place for a seminar or training. Technology-based training in today's crisis is, for me, the best option to learn. Not to mention some training is free, just like my training with Leonexus. Learning now will depend on your effort to learn since all you have got to do is browse the internet and research for free webinars and training to educate and hone your skills.
